On occasion, it is desirable to migrate to a clean Mobility Lab installation instead of going through the standard update process. This may be useful if an issue was encountered during an online update. It may also be desirable to clean out your installation drive from the accumulation of past versions of Mobility Lab.
To migrate your installation, follow these steps:
Windows
- Locate your current installation folder.
- This can typically be found at: "C:\Program Files\Mobility Lab".
- Change your installation folder name to "Mobility Lab Old". This prevents the new installation from copying over your old installation.
- Navigate your browser to http://share.apdm.com/mobility_lab1/release/, select your platform, and download the installer. Email support@apdm.com if you need the password to access the download page.
- Run the installer. This will install Mobility Lab to the standard location (typically "C:\Program Files\Mobility Lab").
- Copy your old "workspace" folder from your previous installation into this one. Typically, this means copying the folder at "C:\Program Files\Mobility Lab Old\workspace" to "C:\Program Files\Mobility Lab\workspace". You can just move the folder (instead of copying it) if you do not have the space to make a full copy, but this is not recommended in case an issue is encountered..
- Launch Mobility Lab.
- Confirm that your data is all present.
- After you are satisfied that your data has been migrated correctly, you can delete the old installation at "C:\Program Files\Mobility Lab Old"
OSX
- Locate your current installation folder. This can typically this can be found at: "/Applications/MobilityLab".
- Change your application name to "MobilityLabOld". This prevents the new installation from copying over your old installation.
- Navigate your browser to http://share.apdm.com/mobility_lab1/release/, select your platform, and download the installer. Email support@apdm.com if you need the password to access the download page.
- Install Mobility Lab by opening the dmg, and dragging the MobilityLab icon into the Applications shortcut within the finder window.
- Copy your old "workspace" folder from your previous installation into this one. Typically, this means copying the folder at "/Applications/MobilityLabOld.app/Contents/Resources/workspace" to "/Applications/MobilityLab.app/Contents/Resources/workspace". For some older installations (before the application was put into its own application bundle), the workspace location may be located at "/Applications/MobilityLab/workspace". You can just move the folder (instead of copying it) if you do not have the space to make a full copy, but this is not recommended in case an issue is encountered. If the MobiltiyLab application shows up as a application package rather than a standard folder from within Finder, you can right click on it and select the "Show Package Contents" option to get into the subfolders.
- Launch Mobility Lab.
- Confirm that your data is all present.
- After you are satisfied that your data has been migrated correctly, you can delete the old installation at "/Applications/MobilityLabOld"
