Creating new test sequences in Mobility Lab

The August, 2014 Mobility Lab release includes a new "Test and Test Sequence Manager". This new functionality makes it possible for end users to easily create their own tests and test sequences. The test sequences replace the "Session Types" that had previously been used (e.g., 3 ITUG + 3 ISway). Now, you can create a session, and add as many tests or test sequences to it as you wish.

If you had any custom tests in use in your installation prior to the update, they will automatically be migrated over. The session types are not migrated, however, as one of the goals of this was to minimize exactly what ends up in the test sequence drop down menus when creating a session. As a result of this, end users will have to re-define any test sequences they wish to use in their studies.

Here, I will provide a workflow for creating a "3 ITUG + 3 ISway" test sequence.

  • Click on the "Manage Tests and Sequences" button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  • Select the "Test Sequences" tab.
  • If you have multiple studies, make sure the study you want to add the sequence to is selected in the bottom of the dialog. After creation, you can easily copy the sequence to other studies if you wish by using the "Copy" option.
  • Click the "Add" button.
  • Under the "Test Sequence Name" field, write "3 ITUG + 3 ISway". You can call it something else if you wish.
  • Under the "Test Type" dropdown, select "ITUG". Under the "Iterations" dropdown, select 3.
  • Click on the "Add to End of Sequence" button.
  • Under the "Test Type" dropdown, select "ISway". The "Iterations" dropdown should still be "3".
  • Click on the "Add to End of Sequence" button.
  • Click the "Add" button to create the sequence.

Next time you add a new session, there will be an option to populate it with a single test or test sequence. You can now select the "3 ITUG + 3 ISway" option from the sequence list.
